The snake formula has survived every platform since the arcade era because the rules fit in one sentence: keep moving, grow as you eat, never touch your own tail. Contrail keeps those rules and changes everything else. You fly a plane over a real city, the tail is your contrail, the food is passengers, and the walls are the city limits.
Three real cities rotate in every day, one per difficulty, each built from OpenStreetMap geography: coastlines, lakes, highways, built-up districts, and working airport runways that launch traffic across your flight path. Collect passengers to grow your contrail and your score, and survive as long as you can.
Snake descends from the 1976 arcade game Blockade and its many clones, but it became a household name when Nokia shipped it on the 6110 in 1997. Hundreds of millions of phones later, the formula was muscle memory for a generation. Google's playable snake doodle and the built-in Google snake game carried it to browsers, and modern multiplayer takes keep the genre alive. Contrail belongs to this family tree: same reflex, new map.
