TransitQ hides the same transit line for everyone each day. You start with almost nothing - a glowing route shape - and every miss trades a guess for a stronger clue until the city is unmistakable.

1. One mystery line. Each day one real transit line appears with every label stripped away. Your job is to name its city.
2. Five guesses. Type a city and submit. You have five tries to land on the right one.
3. Misses wake the map up. Every wrong guess reveals the next stage: real station spacing, then interchanges and the line color, then water and the city outline, then district labels and station names.
4. Distance points the way. Each miss also shows how far and in which compass direction the answer lies from your guess, so wrong answers still narrow the map.
5. Solve in five. Name the city before the guesses run out to keep your streak alive.

Stage 0 is the bare route with a live train, station count, and travel time. Stage 1 snaps stations to their real spacing. Stage 2 reveals interchanges and the line's real color. Stage 3 fades in water and the city outline. Stage 4 adds district labels and a few station names. Every stage is drawn from the real system, so every clue is honest.

• Read the shape first. A single long spine suggests a linear city; a loop or a dense tangle of branches suggests a sprawling metro network.
• Use the station count and travel time. Forty stations over ninety minutes is a massive system; a dozen stops in twenty minutes is a compact one.
• Spend the first guess on a big anchor city in the most plausible region. The distance and direction feedback from a miss is worth more than a longshot.
• Watch the second stage closely. Real station spacing separates dense old-city cores from wide suburban runs.
• Water is the giveaway. When the shoreline fades in, match the line to harbors, rivers, and bays you know.
• Think in regions, not capitals. Plenty of lines belong to a country's second or third city, so do not burn guesses on capitals alone.
