Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the primary airport for Guangzhou and the third-busiest airport in China. CAN handles around 45 million passengers per year and sits about 17 miles north of central Guangzhou. The airport is the primary hub for China Southern Airlines, one of the three major Chinese airline groups, and handles extensive domestic and international operations. Guangzhou's position in the Pearl River Delta industrial region makes CAN an important gateway for business travel to and from southern China. The airport has two terminals (T1 and T2) connected by a central area. CAN has been expanding aggressively to handle the continued growth of Guangzhou's economy and the broader regional industrial development. The airport is connected to central Guangzhou by the Airport Express subway line. Guangzhou's proximity to Hong Kong (about 110 km) makes it an alternative gateway to southern China for international travelers, and CAN handles substantial connecting traffic between domestic Chinese routes and international destinations.
