What is Layover?
Layover is a free daily flight-puzzle game. You're given a start airport, an end airport, a budget, a time cap, and three side-challenges. You build a real multi-stop itinerary that clears all of them. Every flight you can add is an actually-operated airline route with real pricing.
How to play Layover
- Read the constraints.Origin, destination, budget, time cap, and the day's three challenges.
- Pick a first flight. Any airline route out of your origin. The search shows duration and price for each option.
- Keep stitching. Each flight starts where the previous one ended. Connect airports until you reach the destination.
- Mind the budget and clock. Total spend has to fit the budget; total trip time has to fit the cap. Cheap flights are often slow; fast flights are often expensive.
- Clear the challenges. The day's three side-objectives are how you top the leaderboard. They're optional but rewarded.
Frequently asked questions
How does Layover work?
You're given a start airport, an end airport, a budget, and a time cap. You assemble a multi-stop flight itinerary using real airline routes that clears the day's three side-challenges without busting the budget or running out of time.
Where do the flights come from?
Real airline schedule data. Every flight you can add is an actually-operated route on a real airline. Prices reflect the day's published fares for that route.
What are the daily challenges?
Three optional objectives that shape the puzzle, like "include a flight on an A380", "transit through three different countries", or "finish under 18 hours total". You can ignore them, but clearing all three is what tops the leaderboard.
Is there a time limit per turn?
No. Build at your own pace. The only limits are the budget, the total trip time cap, and the day's challenges.
Is Layover free?
Yes. Daily puzzle, free, no account required. Submitting to the leaderboard requires a free account.
