What is Getaway?
Getaway is a free daily travel game built on real airfares. Every morning you wake up in a different real city with a budget and a single objective — visit an Olympic host city, reach a capital, get to an island. Every hop you book prices from real published fares, so the game is the same calculus as planning an actual trip: where can I afford to go, and what's the cleverest route to something memorable?
It's the open-ended sibling of Layover: Layover challenges you to stitch a fixed A-to-B itinerary under constraints, while Getaway hands you the whole fare map and one goal. Same real-world aviation data, opposite kind of puzzle.
Getaway FAQ
How does Getaway work?
Each day you start in a real city with a budget and one objective — like "visit an Olympic host city" or "visit a city on a major river". You hop between cities on real airfares, trying to satisfy the objective and make it a trip worth bragging about without busting the budget.
Are the fares real?
Yes — every hop prices from real published airfares for that day. Cheap regional hops leave budget for the big objective leg; splurge early and you might strand yourself.
How is Getaway different from Layover?
Layover hands you a fixed start and end airport and challenges you to stitch the itinerary between them. Getaway is open-ended: one start city, one objective, and the whole world's fare map — you choose where the trip goes.
Is Getaway free?
Yes. The daily puzzle is free with no account required. Submitting to the leaderboard requires a free account.
