The Airbus A350-1000 is the stretched, higher-thrust variant of the A350 family and the largest twin-engine Airbus widebody. Entering service with Qatar Airways in 2018, the A350-1000 was designed to compete directly with the Boeing 777-300ER on long-haul routes with high capacity requirements. The aircraft seats 350 to 410 passengers and has a range of 8,700 nautical miles, enough for almost any commercial route in the world. Its engines, the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97, are some of the most efficient widebody powerplants ever produced. Qatar Airways, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic operate substantial A350-1000 fleets. The aircraft is the basis for the A350-1000ULR that Qantas will use for Project Sunrise, the upcoming Sydney-London nonstop service.
