George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the primary international gateway for the Houston metropolitan area and a major hub for United Airlines. IAH handles around 46 million passengers per year and sits about 23 miles north of downtown Houston. United operates its second-largest hub at IAH, with extensive service to Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and an expanding network of Asian and African destinations.
