Licenciado Benito Juarez International Airport
Mexico City International Airport, officially Benito Juárez International Airport, is the primary airport for Mexico City and one of the busiest in Latin America. MEX handles around 45 million passengers per year and sits about six miles east of central Mexico City. The airport is the primary hub for Aeroméxico and handles extensive domestic and international operations from most Mexican and international carriers. Mexico City's role as Mexico's capital and largest city makes MEX a critical gateway for all inbound and outbound traffic to the country. The airport has two terminals (T1 and T2) connected by an airside bus and a people-mover system. MEX has been operating at capacity for years, with limited ability to expand due to its urban location. A secondary airport, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU), opened in 2022 about 25 miles north of MEX to relieve capacity pressure, though most international airlines have remained at MEX. The airport is connected to central Mexico City by Metro and bus services.
