Frankfurt am Main International Airport

Frankfurt Airport is the primary hub for Lufthansa and one of the most important international gateways in Europe. FRA handles around 60 million passengers per year and sits about nine miles southwest of central Frankfurt. The airport is the primary hub for Lufthansa, which accounts for approximately 60 percent of the traffic. Other major operators include Condor, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines (its transatlantic hub into continental Europe), and dozens of global carriers. FRA has two terminals: Terminal 1, which is Lufthansa's primary facility, and Terminal 2, which handles most other carriers. A third terminal is under construction and will eventually serve additional capacity. The airport has four runways and handles some of the most complex air traffic patterns in Europe. Frankfurt is geographically positioned at the crossroads of European aviation, making it a natural connecting point for flights between North America, Asia, Africa, and the rest of Europe. The airport is also a major cargo hub, second only to Paris CDG in Europe.
